Cherry Pickles

Cherry Pickles, originally a Mathematics graduate, pursued her love of art at Chelsea School of Art followed by a post graduate course at the Slade, emerging with her diploma and the prize for the Best Painting in Final Year award in 1979.

Cherry has travelled and exhibited extensively and has been the recipient of many awards from various government bodies spanning Wales, Greece, USA and Italy amongst others.

Cherry is well known for her challenging self-portraits which provoke through reflection, an element of humour often with sober undertones.  

In 2011 she was shortlisted from 508 submissions for the prestigious Ruth Borchard self-portrait competition and exhibition in Kings Place, London. Cherry has been invited to join the Prince's Drawing school in London and will be teaching life drawing there in 2013.
